St. Edward's Wives group is a social club that meets twice a month in the Church Hall. The meetings are usually the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month and start at 8.15 p.m.
The club covers a wide age range. It was started in 1969 by a group of ladies at St. Edward's Church who originally met in their own homes. We celebrated our 18th birthday on the evening of the 1987 hurricane!
The meetings consist of talks, demonstrations and slide shows. We also have outings to local places of interest, usually with a guided tour and occasionally we eat out or have a social and games evening with a buffet in the hall.
There are about 40 members at present and subscriptions are £17 per year or £8.50 for 6 months, and visitors pay £1.50 a meeting. The subscriptions are collected in September as the club year runs from September to July, but we welcome new members at any time.
